2020 Engineering Machine Design Championship

May 3-4, 2020

Target Field, Carew Atrium | Minneapolis, Minnesota

The Minnesota Twins are proud to host the 2020 Engineering Machine Design Championship at Target Field’s Carew Atrium. On Monday, May 4 the winning team will have the honor of throwing the ceremonial first pitch of the Minnesota Twins game against the San Francisco Giants.

8:45 AM – 11:30 AM | Hennepin Technical College Experiential Sessions including Automation Robotics, Fluid Power Engineering, and Motion Control
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Lunch, Keynote Address, and Special Awards Ceremony
12:30 PM – 4:00 PM | Industry Tours and Educational Sessions
4:30 PM | Transportation Drop-off (Bloomington, Minnesota*)
4:30 PM – 6:40 PM | Dinner (teams on own) and Transportation to Target Field via METRO Blue Line – Light Rail**
6:40 PM – 10:00 PM | Minnesota Twins vs. San Francisco Giants Game at Target Field**

*Bloomington, Minnesota location will be communicated on the Championship Team Resources webpage.
**METRO Transit ticket/pass will be provided to and from the game from Park & Ride free lot.


Team Registration

Qualifying teams will receive an email invitation to register for the Championship and all relevant information will be made available here. The password to access the site will be made available to team coaches.

WHAT: Two-day Engineering Machine Design Contest Championship Event

WHO: All Senior and Junior Division teams that earned the opportunity to advance to the Championship from their Regional Contest.

WHERE: Various locations in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota) including Hennepin Technical College – Eden Prairie, South Metro Industry Locations, and Target Field’s Carew Atrium.

INTENT to ATTEND: Coaches must complete the Intent to Attend form by Monday, March 23 or two weeks after their Regional Contest (whichever is later). Visit the Championship Team Resource webpage for more information.

REGISTRATION: The registration and payment deadline is Monday, April 20th and is available on the Championship Team Resource webpage.

COST: The minimum fundraising goal is $600 per team. The collective value of the two-day event is over $1,750 per team.

> Teams are encouraged to raise at least $150 per team member and coach.
> No team will be denied registration based on not meeting the minimum fundraising goal.
> Funds raised by teams will go to program development and direct costs.
> Teams will compete for Community Engagement Awards with the greatest number of individual sponsorships and the highest total amount raised in each division receiving awards.
> Each team member and their coach will receive a t-shirt, $15 food voucher for Sunday lunch, transportation and lunch on Monday, and a ticket to the Minnesota Twins game.

Monday Only Registration

WHO: Any 5th-12th Grade Student or Adult
WHAT: Explore Engineering Educational Experience
WHEN: 8:00 AM – 10:00 PM (approximate end time) on Monday, May 4th
WHERE: Transportation pick-up and drop-off at select Bloomington, Minnesota location. Programming will take place at various locations in the Twin Cities (Minneapolis and St. Paul, Minnesota) including Hennepin Technical College – Eden Prairie, South Metro Industry Locations, and Target Field.
REGISTRATION: The registration and payment deadline is Wednesday, April 15th.
COST: $85 per person ($150 value) includes a t-shirt, transportation, lunch, and a ticket to the Minnesota Twins game.
