The Team Information Form must be submitted within 2 weeks of the team’s Championship Advancement (i.e. Regional Contest or waitlist announcement) and no later than Sunday, April 7th.

This form will gather the following information:

1. General Team Details
2. Tentative number of team members attending Championship
3. Tentative Date of Arrival
4. Tentative Machine Drop-off Time
5. Estimated extra shirts ($15) – do not include attending team members or coach (1 coach per team)

The registration fee is $20 per team member. Team Registration Scholarships are available for those with financial concerns. Visit the Team Resources page for more information. Each team’s registration includes one (1) coach. Additional coaches will be counted as “Non-team students and Adults”.

Non-team students, parents, guardian, or others are encouraged to attend the Championship and celebrate with the team! Everyone is welcome to join in! 

For those wanting join us for lunch there will be options available to purchase food.

Extra shirts can be purchased for $15 each. The Payment Form is due by Sunday, April 7th.

Event volunteer are needed Thursday for set-up and various tasks on Friday. Volunteers will get to choose between a free t-shirt or free lunch on Friday.

Teams Journal Submission

Electronic copies of Team Journals are due Wednesday, April 10th. Email team journals to emdc@mnsu.edu with the subject line “EMDChamp Journal Submission”. 

Include team name, school, and division in the email body.

Teams are permitted to revise their journals prior to submission.

Image Release and Waiver

Electronic copies of Image Release and Waivers are required for all team members and coaches and are due Wednesday April 10th. Email completed forms to emdc@mnsu.edu with the subject line “EMDChamp Waivers”.

Include team name, school, and division in the email body.

Machine Design

Teams are permitted to revise or improve their machines as they see fit.

Judging Process

The Championship will be judged according to the rules outlined in the 2024 Official Handbook. Each division will be randomly split into clusters for the Preliminary Round. Each team will complete all round judging at one time (i.e. Team Presentation, Run #1, Machine Reset in Front of Judges, Run #2).

Special Awards will include:

1. Ballot Awards:

a. Theme Award – for being the team that best identifies and communicates the competition theme
b. People’s Choice Award – for a machine that was the fan favorite
c. Most Creative Use of Materials – for being the team that used unusual objects to build their machine or used an everyday object in a new fun way
d. Best Technical Construction – for a machine with the best overall construction, fit, and finish

2. Judge Selected:

a. College & Career Ready Award – for being the team that exemplified skills in applied knowledge, effective relationships, and workplace skills
b. Most Innovative Step – for being the team with the most creative or ingenious step/transfer of energy
c. Persistence Award – for being the team that displayed grit and persistence

3. Score-based:

a. Best Design
b. Best Presentation
c. Best Journal

Redesign Round

Teams that do not advance to the Final Round will participate in the Redesign Round. Details about the Redesign Round will be forth coming.
