3D Printing for STEM Educator Pedagogy and Workforce Preparation

This seminar included academic faculty speakers who shared information about 3D printing and its technology. Randy Jasken, Instructor of Additive and Digital Manufacturing at Century College, discussed the multiple processes, printers, and applications to STEM pedagogy. Dr. Kuldeep Agarwal, Associate Professor of Automotive and Manufacturing Technology and Director of 3D Printing Lab at Minnesota State University, Mankato, shared some current technical research and supply industry applications for 3D printing technology. Together, they shared workforce information about the academic degrees and certifications available in this technology. At the end of their presentations, there was an open Question & Answer.

Dr. Kuldeep Agarwal, is an Associate Professor in the Department of Automotive and Manufacturing Engineering Technology at Minnesota State University, Mankato. He has been working in the field of manufacturing engineering for the last 20 years. His research focuses on 3D Printing, metal manufacturing, and process improvement. He works with regional industries to help them utilize the latest technologies and improve their workplace.

Randy Jaskens, joined Century College in 2017 as the instructor for the new Additive & Digital Manufacturing program. Before becoming an instructor, he spent his career in the aviation industry, primarily as an Avionics Technician, but also as a welder fabricator. He has a strong electronics background and is also experienced in the manufacturing process. Randy is driven to prepare students with the education and skills to meet Minnesota’s workforce needs, and he has a passion to create industry-education partnerships and collaborations to benefit students.
